Mt Ruapehu Visitor's Centre
Come to our exciting visitors centre nestled at the foot of Mt Ruapehu. The Visitors Centre is fun, interactive and informative. We have an great teachers resource which can help you with your tour of the VC and the region.
We have two Audio Visual (AV's) presentations which are favourites with schools; the first is The sacred gift of Tongariro. This presentation brings to life the Maori myths of the Park's volcanoes, European settlement of the area, landscapes and recreational activities within the Park. (25 mins)
The second, Volcanoes of the South Wind describes the power and unpredictable nature of volcanoes and the earth-building which has shaped this National Park and its surroundings. (15 mins)
There is a small cost for the AV's - for one - $1 per student, for both $1.50 per student. Teachers and chaperones are free. We do not bill, so payment is required on the day.
If you would like something more programme specific please do not hesitate to contact me.
