Trout Centre Opening Hours

 

1 December to 30 April: 10am-4pm

1 May to 30 November: 10am-3pm

However we are able to open the site early or stay open late for group bookings.

Payment & Cancellations

  • If you wish to enter the museum and aquarium as part of a tour:

    • For groups of up to 40 students and adults, $50

    • For groups of 41-100 students and adults, $100

    • If not entering the museum and aquarium, your visit has no charge​

  • Fishing is $10 per student

  • Cancellations for fishing must be made at least 24 hours in advance

  • Cancellations for other activities (tours, critters, etc.) must be made at least 12 hours in advance

On the day

  • The public car park has sufficient space for bus parking

  • Gather your students on the grass next to the public car park and wait for an educator to meet you

  • If it is raining heavily, escort the group down the path to the Trout Centre building and wait under cover

  • Tongariro National Trout Centre is aiming for para kore (zero waste), please ensure that any rubbish you bring to the site leaves with you

  • There are several nice locations on site to sit and enjoy a picnic lunch
