Stormwater

Fast Facts

  • We can help by:

    • Disposing of litter in rubbish bins

    • Wash cars on lawns so that soapy water soaks into the ground

    • Store chemicals in well aired lockable shed

    • Clean up chemical spills around the home by soaking up the mess and disposing of unused paint and domestic garden sprays at the landfill recycling centre.

  • Stormwater is the water that runs off surfaces such as roads, driveways, footpaths and rooftops

  • Stormwater inlets around the Taupō district are easily identified by the distinctive aluminium trout symbols on the grates to the drains - reminding us that anything washing off our roads and footpaths ends up in the lake!
